The
Methow Valley offers some of the best bird-watching in the
state. Over 250 species of birds have been seen in the area
surrounding the Methow River and it’s tributaries. The
Valley features many different habitats from wet forest to
dry shrub-steppe and is home to birds of both western and
eastern affinities.
Both Golden and Bald Eagles are seen here year-round, and
the Valley is one of the best places in the country to see
Lewis’ Woodpeckers. Gray Catbirds and Eastern Kingbirds
are relatively easy to find and the birding is nearly always
accompanied by good weather.
